INCOMING PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings! Every year for the last 23 years, members of the Philippine American Society of CPA’s, our families and friends come together to show our solidarity and support for an undertaking that is purely voluntary. People serving this society commit their time & resources to continue its ideals & missions. So for 23 years we have seen men and women with different personalities, different management & leadership styles but bound by a common goal :to promote and maintain high professional standards for Phil-American CPA’s & foster harmonious relationships among members and the community.
I have great admiration for our leaders and I treasure the gains they have made thru the years, putting the Filipino –American CPA’s at par if not better than the others in the accounting and finance industry. So it is with this thought that I accept the 24th presidency. PASCPA to me is more than just a group of Phil-Ams in the field of accounting. To me it represents who we are as a people; our culture, our work ethics and other things that make us distinctively Filipino. This year for example we have shown that the "bayanihan spirit", a trait uniquely Filipino, is still alive by coming to the aid of an associate member who passed away. Today we are faced with challenges that need to be addressed. Like the issue of succession. Many of our members are baby boomers; they are starting to retire. We need the next generation not only to continue what has been started but also to make this society relevant to the times. In our first board meeting we have planned to reach out to Filipino American students in universities. We are developing plans to establish a relationship with these young people. We welcome your input. We have also shared our plans for the entire year with you: providing continuing professional education, participating in the tax free clinic and raising funds for scholarship projects. We invite you to join us to turn these plans into reality. Lastly, I want to thank all of you for taking time out from your busy schedules to be here tonight. I am elated by your presence. I also thank the board and our advisers specially Glo, Monette, Ben & Frenz for making this event a success. Goodnight and Long live PASCPA! Imelda J. de Leon, CPA President
